What the May 26, 2024 storm taught Bentonville about wind and roofs
Early on May 26, 2024, damaging straight-line wind crossed Bentonville while an EF2 tornado developed near SE Walton Boulevard and moved through Rogers. If your roof has not been checked since, the useful question today is what condition it is in, not whether a storm map can diagnose it.

What the record actually says
The final NWS Tulsa storm report records an EF2 tornado with a 7.4-mile path and a maximum width of 3,000 yards. It began along SE Walton Boulevard west of SE Dodson Road, crossed into Rogers and ended east of Grambling Road. The same report documents damaging thunderstorm winds across much of Bentonville toward Little Flock.
That record cannot establish damage at an individual address. A roofer inspecting your roof today can identify its present condition and signs consistent with wind damage, but cannot assign every defect to that storm. The roof findings, any earlier photographs and repair history help keep that conversation grounded.
What wind can leave behind on a shingle roof
Wind can lift shingle tabs, break the sealant bond between courses, crease the material or remove shingles altogether. Flying debris can also puncture the surface or dislodge granules. A shingle can remain in place with a damaged seal, so an apparently complete roof is not necessarily an undamaged one.
The inspection needs to cover the roof slopes as well as edges, ridge caps and flashings. It separates missing or creased shingles from unsealed shingles and other deterioration, because those findings can call for different repairs. Some damage becomes more apparent with time; a later leak still does not establish which storm caused it.

If your roof has not been looked at since
If nobody has walked your roof since May 2024, that is the reason to ask, not evidence of a problem. A free roof inspection checks the roof slopes, edges, ridge caps and flashings, then explains what needs attention and what is sound.
If it does show wind damage, keep the storm date. Insurers ask when the damage could have happened, and policies set time limits for reporting it. The storm damage page explains how the roof question and the claim question stay separate, and what temporary cover does and does not do in the meantime.
Have your roof walked before the next storm
Tell us the street and whether the roof has been looked at since May 2024. The inspection is free, and it commits you to nothing.
